EVAN SANCHEZ: So Peter, how do you think that your mindset and the way that you have lived your life can be translated into help those that you work with that you coach?

PETER HAMMER: That's a very great question. One of the things that I've always considered (and I've heard other people mention about me) is that I'm very resourceful.

So when you find yourself in a place where the opportunities aren't opening up, you have to be willing to will yourself.

You have to be willing to put yourself in an uncomfortable state to open up those doors, or at least get your foot in.

EVAN: You gotta make it happen, right? Nobody's gonna do it for you.

PETER: That's right.

So, kicking down doors has been one of the things that I've enjoyed doing.

And I know that fear tends to kick in, but fear is something that we all experience, and it's something that we all tend to create in our own heads. If we just do… just change our mindset about the opportunity of just asking, because it's always going to be a no unless you ask.

EVAN: True, true.

And you know, that's where the whole sales and leadership and, you know, really just the overall skill of influence is one of the big skills that we teach as coaches, because you're going to run into the naysayers.

You're going to run into your own mental barriers that can get in the way… that can actually keep you from really achieving your biggest goals.
